Submerged with Stingrays by parrotdolphin Submerged with Stingrays by parrotdolphin
An idea I got from the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. They have a "Wild Reef" exhibit that's really, uh, wild!!

Well, I kinda used a bunch of stuff for this one.
Made with Poser, PoseRay and POV-Ray. Photoshop for the stingray and swimsuit patterns.
I also used POV-Ray IBL (Image Based Lighting) code [link] along with a main light to get a defined shadow. Thanks, Max, wow that's a lot of lights!! And I was only using the level 6 set :)

I also used Jon Buller's wonderful Penrose macros for the bottom of the pool, which you can get on the POV-Ray newgroups here ==> [link]
The random colours on the tiles are generated using this trick ==> [link] (works best if the image is all somewhat similar colours)

Okay, so, assuming you don't follow baseball. There is an American League team in Tampa Bay called the Devil Rays. In their ball park they have a 'touch tank' populated with devil rays which are I think I type of manta ray, not sting ray, but close.

The NY Yankees, who if you do follow baseball you probably hate, but I like them, recently played a series at Tampa Bay and it was there that they 'clinched' a playoff berth as teh wildcard. In NY, the owner of the Yankees, George Steinbrenner started his own TV network, called YES, in order to broadcast Yankee games the major networks wouldn't do. One of their on-camera people for the Yankees games is a woman, Kim Jones, who does the club house player interviews.

So the night the Yankees clinched, the men of the broadcast team were all excited about the idea of getting Kimberley Jones to go swimming in the tank full of rays. And evidently she did!!!! though not caught on camera.

Sooo, you are precient my dear.

It's good to be precient. :boogie:
I don't follow baseball much, but I did see that the Cubs are getting their fans worked up again. :)
We had a stingray exhibit at Brookfield Zoo where you got to touch them. They have a slimey feel to them. YouTube has a vidoe here [link]
My son LOVED it.... we went twice and stayed for at least a hour each time. He was soaked both times.

Well I have left this on my message list in the hope that I could do it justice. But I keep returning to it, and it puts my art critique subsystem 'on the blink.' It is an original and evocative image. The upside down pose gives a sense of submersion and disorientation, the vertical camera angle, the strange creatures suggesting erotic mystery; again the primitivism of pattern, the unexplained way the floor pattern seems to permeate the girl's flesh. I hope more from this series emerge.

Thanks Jim, Hmm, yeah, sometimes its hard for me to say anything about a piece. (I am not a master of words) Sometimes I just fav something and that's it. So, thanks for the comments... the stingrays are erotic? ....................... :)

I have been only using the R5 or R4 lately for final renders. I really need to explore some of the penrose work you have been doing. I love the effects you are getting.
