Checking out photons in POV-Ray. This is made of blobs (like meta balls).

LOL Ever tried to squeez a fresh one between your fingers? They just don't burst. Maybe a good thing.

I love it. Is that gossy effect hard to get? cuz, you know
after seeing so much renders frmo you, all trought Pov-Ray, V-Ray and else-rays, I've decided to try it out myself.
So...greetings, main source of inspiration :w00t:!

Good luck if you try POV-Ray. Read, read, read... and code, code, code :D
Glossy hard to get? Naw, POV has include files that have predefined textures, colors, materials (like glass, metals, etc) and you can use those to get started.

Oh wow! Sometimes simple is better. Did you use a color gradient over the blobs (errr.. metaballs) or did you set each color individually?

Thanks Max. POV-Ray calls 'em blobs, seems like most other programs call them metaballs, same thing. Its a gradient color_map.
I still want to figure out how to get those prismatic artifacts (caustics?)

You have to enable photons. :)
Render times get reeeeeallly slow.
Let me know if you want more info. I have done caustics before. :)

Yup, I had the photons on for this peice, and it was slow to render. I'm going to try and figure out the prismatic stuff myself one of these days, but if I can't, I will come knocking. :) Thanks!

She called me sweetheart  :D

May I get a bump-mapped surface onto the glass sculpture now? Those caustics can stand some turbulence, I suppose.

But then I'd get my own ass in gear and check out that photon gimmick myself.

And next I want a lilac metalic mercedes, a big bowl of stracciatella ice cream, and a pink plushy life-sized elephant.

Thanks in advance :rolf:

Damn, I stuffed that elephant into the Mercedes, told him to drive his ass to Germany, and he spilled his ice cream all over the car and started crying. Elephants are so sensitive!

Looks yummy, like jelly beans. Where does the model come from? Anything to do with Penrose tiling?

Yeah, it does look that way, doesn't it? The Penrose angle occured to me too. This was something I was modelling in Blender, just playing around. But I coded it up for POV-Ray with real blobs becasue I didn't think the glass would be right with a mesh object.
